Thank you all in advance (and in hopes) for your replies. I just want to prevent problems that are bound to eventually cause instability if I don't deal with it now.
However I also can not afford to take this to a shop nor go buy another one. "delete queen" or add new commands if it's not necessary.

like I said, I'm not a pro by any means, and I'd rather not play I'm not a programmer or developer, but I'm capable of following directions, would rather not use ms-dos or have to get too deep in the system. I'd appreciate any tips any of you might have. My question(s) is: 1) is there any way to get windows to send only the updates that will work for this edition? 2) Is there a site I don't know about where I can check and make sure I'm keeping my system secure? Valid product id, and it's all authenticated. I've checked and made sure that I have genuine windows with I've had my laptop for almost a year now and it's been through tech sites and trouble shooting that I've been able to get just about everything else on my system to work the way I want it to.
Unfortunately, I've yet to find the site where I can get updates automatically that do pertain to my Most will fail until I run the fix it tool, and that even fails on occasion because the updates simply don't apply to the version I'm running.
